Jillian Mae Playtime and Sketch of the Week
In one of my absolutely relaxing, recharging and beautiful trips up north to Jillian Mae’s house, I caught a glimpse of a project that has been long in the making. This project had to do with the idea of a special cat that has since passed in a dog attack, whose painted face and handmade cat doll are always hanging out in her installations somewhere. You can see her hanging from the ceiling.
“The Sphinx” as some of you know is another one of my alias’s, however in this case Jillian Mae has her own concept in parallel. The cat beast you see in her installation is The Sphinx in another form. The overwhelming spirit of angry, sad and killed cats has personified itself in the unique twist of a stuffed animal. It is the protector of all cats. Basically, its fun to play with but it’ll fuck you up.
Another aspect of this installationis the playful illusions that Jillian Mae is known for. Usually there is a doll of herself that works in the room, this time there is only the real Jill, dressed and painted like her dolls. She added sculpted hair and if you look close you can see the fake eyes she made. And as always there is a colorful mural from corner to corner that flies overhead and under your feet. So say hello to The Sphinx, the vicious protector of cats!
Finally, the sketch of the week is below, hope you enjoy!
