Well APE, The Alternative Press Expo is coming up Oct 12th & 13th and I'm working very hard to prepare my booth. I really enjoyed being a part of it last year and meeting all the people I did. I have some new kick-ass banners and fresh prints you've never seen! Right now, I am currently in the middle of a new short story comic, the second in its series, titled "DEATH".
“DEATH” takes place at diverse anthropological locations and time periods, exploring some of both the physical and cultural perspectives of death mixed with my own interpretations in story-telling.
In many ways I'd like to think of it as an ode to the countless researchers and scientists that have shared the rare archeological discoveries that tell us who we were and are.
The first story I did while I was in studying comics at Parsons Paris I had access to some of the most inspiring Egyptian archeological remains I had ever seen in the UK. It was already a passion of mine to study and seemed to naturally shape the stories I wanted to tell. The research is one thing I love getting lost in and this time I chose to focus on the rich ancient Mayan culture. I have not been studying it for years like the Egyptian culture but I have always been fascinated by the archeology I have seen.
The notorious ritual human sacrifice is a topic I would like to contribute to as well as educate others on the reality of the sacred and culturally significant ceremony. The intent is to be as respectful as possible to the scientific information and traditions but also tell my own story and enrich the subject. If that sounds like a jolly good time for you too then be sure to check me out at this year's APE.
